Myers & Garrett

Myers Varn is from Sumter, SC and graduated from Wilson Hall School in 2009, and am now a Sophomore at The College of Charleston studying Arts Management with a Minor in Dance.  I began my classical ballet training at age 4 under Ari Dickinson of The Dance Place in Camden, SC.  I also performed in many Columbia City Ballet productions.  Some of my other dance studies include jazz, modern, contemporary, liturgical, and broadway.  I am now beginning my second year with the Robert Ivey Ballet Company in Charleston, SC.   I began shagging with the Junior Shag Association in 2006, competed in the 2009 and 2010 Shag Nationals, and am beginning my first year with the Junior Shag Dance Team with my partner Garrett Spencer.

Garrett Spencer is from Raleigh, NC and just graduated from Friendship Christian School.  He plans on attending community college in the fall in hopes of obtaining a fire science degree, and one day become a fire-fighter.  He has been Shag Dancing for 4 and half years, and hopes to grow old dancin to that old rhythm & blues.  Off of the dance floor, he likes to hunt, fish, and collect records.  He will be partnering Myers Varn on the team, who he competed with in the Finals at this past National Shag Dance Championships.  He is very excited to be a part of the new team, and can't wait to shake a leg!  A big thanks to his family, and the local Shag Clubs in the area who have already been so supportive of the team thus far!
